Banteay Chhmar: Located roughly 165 km from Siem Reap and 20 km from the Thai border, this is one of Cambodia’s most massive yet least-visited Angkorian treasures. Built by King Jayavarman VII in the late 12th to early 13th century in the iconic Bayon style, this national monument was dedicated to his son, Crown Prince Srindrakumara.
Banteay Torp: Next, visit this fascinating nearby site, built during the same era. Its name translates to “Fortress of the Army,” and it is believed to have been constructed as a tribute to the Khmer military that once secured control over this region.
